Dr Guillermo Diaz-Pulido

Bio & Research InterestsI am Associate Professor in the Griffith School of Environment and Adjunct Research Fellow in the ARC Centre of Excellence for Coral Reef Studies, James Cook University. I have a PhD in Marine Botany/Ecology from James Cook University, Townsville and was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Centre for Marine Studies, The University of Queensland. My research work focuses on questions addressing the ecology of algae in coral reefs, their roles in coral reef degradation and the impacts of global climate change and ocean acidification on algae and coral-algal dynamics. My latest research assesses the implications of ocean acidification and warming on seaweeds and coralline red algae. This knowledge is directly relevant to the sustainable use and management of coral reefs, particularly the Great Barrier Reef. Qualifications
PhD School of Tropical Biology, James Cook University of North Queensland, Townsville, Australia. 2002

BSc (Honours) Faculty of Marine Biology, Universidad de Bogotá Jorge Tadeo Lozano, Santa Marta, Colombia, 1995

Bio & Research Interests

I am Associate Professor in the School of Environment and Science, and Adjunct Research Fellow in the ARC Centre of Excellence for Coral Reef Studies, James Cook University.
